牧師在星期天的講道時，很正經的告訴我們這個家戶喩曉的故事：

馬克土溫，是一位比我們多數人更誠實面對自己的問題的人。 他聽過人們抱怨聖經難以理解；不過他說：他對於聖經裏，他能了解的部分的困擾，更勝於他不能了解的那部分。

Misunderstanding 有兩種定義 :
1. 無法正確的理解某些事物。
2. 異義爭執。

C.S. Lewis 在他的 《The Screwtape Letters》有這麼一段資深魔鬼Screwtape對小鬼Wormwood交代要如何對待一名基督徒患者的教導：(C.S. Lewis 在前言中要讀者記得，魔鬼是撒謊成性的，並非Screwtape所說的每件事，甚至從魔鬼自己的角度來看，都可以拿來當真)。

The Divine “goodness” differs from ours, but it is not sheerly different: it differs from ours not as white from black but as a perfect circle from a child's first attempt to draw a wheel. But when the child has learned to draw, he will know that the circle he then makes is what he was trying to make from the very beginning.

【前言】
2006年感恩節前的一個星期五晚上，我參加了一個基督徒的小組聚會。帶領的人要求每個人都要做一個對神的感恩見證，由他率先帶頭。因為我是客人，所以他安排讓我最後發言。

辯論會上，考驗候選人的的智商，問題：

「你去森林裡，看到，只有一棵樹上，有10隻鳥，

起床抱一抱，老婆一天笑；

The current effort of so many religious leaders to harmonize Christianity with science, philosophy and every natural and reasonable thing is, I believe, the result of failure to understand Christianity and, judging from what I have heard and read, failure to understand science and philosophy as well.
根據我所聽來的和所讀到的，我相信，許多宗教領袖們目前要將基督教的精神和科學、哲學和每一個自然和理性的東西協和一致的努力，是因為他們不了解基督教的精神而且也不了解科學和哲學。
